I’m exhausted. Again. So I don’t really want to write a lot, but this has been one of the most eventful weeks of my mission. We baptized Jon and Savannah, went to the Oakland Temple Visitor’s Center with almost half of the active members in the YSA ward, had exchanges with the zone leaders, and had the Brookvale Ward Christmas Party.
Jon and Savannah’s baptism was great! They were so excited! Elder Scholes and I had the privilege of baptizing them. After Jon was baptized, we were talking to him and he told us that the very second he came out of the water, he felt something. He said he didn’t know how to describe it, but he felt the Spirit so strongly that he felt like a new man. It was super cool! Elder Scholes and I were also able to confirm them the next morning at church. We are so excited to add that new family to the ward.
Last night, we took Jackie to the Visitor’s Center in Oakland and left an open invite for ward members to come with us to see the Christmas lights set up on temple grounds. Nearly half the active members of the ward came! Well, maybe not quite that much, but many of them did come, so we split off into smaller groups. It was a great experience to get Jackie up to the temple. She loved going up there and is very curious about everything we have to teach her! It was great!
On Wednesday, Elder Chapman and I got to be companions again on exchanges. It’s funny how different we are than we were in the MTC. The dynamic of working together was very different, especially teaching together. He’s become a very solid missionary and we had a great day working together.
Speaking of zone leaders, Elder Chapman’s companion, Elder Westover is going home on Wednesday. He was injured and is leaving us because he can’t work anymore. It will be sad to see him leave…
This week was incredibly busy and I’m exhausted. Hopefully I’ll be able to regain my strength for the week of Christmas. We have a lot happening, anyway. We get transfer calls on Saturday (Christmas Eve). Next week, I will have news.
A member called us at 9 PM one night. He had a Christmas tree he wanted to give to us. So, now we have a Christmas tree. It’s a real tree and we had to cut it down to size in the rain that same night before bringing it in.
I hope you all know that I love you! Have a great week!
