How’s things? Things here have been great. We had a busy, busy week! We added some new investigators, taught some solid lessons, celebrated Thanksgiving, and kicked off the church’s Christmas initiative. Lots of good things happening.
Jon and Savannah are on track for baptism. In fact, they’ve discussed moving their baptismal date earlier! They are really solid and are continuing to progress every day. This week we discussed with them the vision of the Tree of Life found in 1 Nephi 8 and 11 and helped them see how it applies to our lives every day. It was great!
Jackie came to church again and today we will be talking with her about revelation and prophets so that she can understand how she can gain her answer to know if what we are teaching really is eternal truth. We’re also teaching about revelation to a new investigator named Haleigh today. We added her as an investigator this last week in the YSA ward. She was taught by missionaries in the past and has a testimony of everything EXCEPT modern day prophets. She told us that as soon as she gains a testimony of that she will be baptized.
Thanksgiving was my highlight of last week (of course). I missed being away from home, but the bishop of the Zone Leaders’ ward invited us over for dinner, along with three other companionships. They set up a table just for the missionaries, so we had a real casual Thanksgiving dinner. It was a really nice break from some of the formalities of working with members, and I think the bishop’s family recognized we need that. They’re super cool people (they were Tongans) and dinner was delicious. It was a really good day.
After that, we went up to the institute in Hayward to hang out it with other missionaries since we had the day off. It was really good to be able to sit back and relax for a minute, especially as we kick into the Christmas season and get started with the church’s super awesome Christmas initiative.
If you go to mormon.org, there is a video to introduce the “Light the World” initiative the church is doing. It’s my personal favorite Christmas video the church has put out so far. The idea is that Jesus Christ came into the world to set and example for us and take upon him the sufferings of mankind, but this Christmas season, we should emulate that example by serving others and lifting their burdens. For each day of December leading up to Christmas, there is a theme on how we can serve others, and we are all invited to do something each day to help people come unto Christ and find peace during the holidays. It’s a great program and I encourage you all to do it and help light the world with the Light of Christ this December!
Anyway, gotta run now. We have a temple day tomorrow, so we have a short P-Day today. I hope you all are doing well and have a great week! Love you all!
