“Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.” ~James 5:14
I do not really have anything to report this week. Elder Scholes and I were sick most of the week and couldn’t work a whole lot. Elder Scholes got hit pretty bad, while my own sickness was mild. It was kind of a brutal week, but that’s to be expected when health is sub-par.
We weren’t the only ones with health things happening this week. John and Savannah, our investigators in Brookvale, had their third child this week. It all went well and they kept in touch with us over the course of the week to let us know how they are doing! The ward was able to provide support and make and deliver meals for them while they were busy with the baby and recovering from the long week.
Earlier this week, we had Elder Nattress of the Seventy come speak to us. It was super cool. He’s a really inspiring guy and spoke in conference back in October. We talked a lot about the meaning of repentance.
One big thing that I’ve learned about repentance on my mission is that it isn’t a negative thing. Our mission president always says that “repentance” is the most hopeful word in the gospel. In a lot of other faiths, repentance is viewed negatively with connotations of “hellfire and damnation”, but in reality, repentance is all about change. It’s about being healed spiritually and becoming better as we do so. It really is a hopeful thing! In the words of Elder Ballard (as quoted by Elder Nattress), repentance simply means to “come unto Christ”.
This week was long, but it was also good for us because a lot of spiritual learning took place, especially in regards to learning who we all are. We all have a divine nature and are the children of God. As such, we should have amazing self-worth! Let’s all try to remember our divine heritage and divine potential. God loves us. I know that is true.
I have no photos this week (sorry Mom)! We were bedridden for much of the week anyway. Sorry for the short report.
I love you all! Have a great week!
